Imaging Spectrometry in High-Alpine Topography: The Derivation of Accurate Broadband Albedo
نویسندگان
چکیده
Three flight lines over high-alpine terrain have been recorded with the imaging spectrometer DAIS7915 in August 2002. The aim of this campaign was the derivation of broadband albedo to support distributed energy-balance modelling. The data was successfully ortho-rectified and a vicarious calibration as well as topographic-atmospheric correction were performed. To enable the derivation and investigation of black-sky and white-sky albedo, twoparameter kernel-based BRDF models were fitted to subsets. Coupling of these BRDF-models with the energybalance code PERMEBAL suggests a significant influence of angular anisotropy on net radiation in complex topography. Comparison of modeled and measured time series of albedo show a good representation of its temporal evolution, but a large offset between the ground measurements and the BRDF model inversions is present.

Linking glacier annual mass balance and glacier albedo retrieved from MODIS data
Albedo is one of the variables controlling the mass balance of temperate glaciers. Multispectral imagers, such as MODerate Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board the TERRA and AQUA satellites, provide a means to monitor glacier surface albedo. In this study, different methods to retrieve broadband glacier surface albedo from MODIS data are compared. The effect of multiple reflections due to...
متن کاملMapping daily snow/ice shortwave broadband albedo from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS): The improved direct retrieval algorithm and validation with Greenland in situ measurement
[1] Snow/ice albedo is a critical variable in surface energy balance calculations. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data have been used routinely to provide global land surface albedo. The MODIS algorithm includes atmospheric correction, surface reflectance angular modeling, and narrowband to broadband albedo conversion. In an earlier study, a ‘‘direct retrieval’’ metho...
متن کاملModeling of spatio-temporal of albedo over Iran
The aim of this study is modeling spatiotemporal variations of albedo. This study was conducted using simultaneous effects of several components, such as wetness of surface layer of soil, cloudiness, topography and vegetation density (NDVI), using MEERA2 model with a resolution of 50 in 50 km during 2000-2010 in Iran. The results of spatial analysis of albedo values in Iran showed that the high...
متن کاملRadiative transfer in mountains: Application to the Tibetan Plateau
[1] We developed a 3D Monte Carlo photon tracing program for the transfer of radiation in inhomogeneous and irregular terrain to calculate broadband solar and thermal infrared fluxes. We selected an area of 100 100 km in the Tibetan Plateau centered at Lhasa city and used the albedo and surface temperature from MODIS/Terra for this study. We showed that anomalies of surface solar fluxes with re...

Generating accurate three dimensional planetary models and albedo maps is becoming increasingly more important as NASA plans more robotics missions to the Moon in the coming years. This paper describes a novel approach for separation of topography and albedo maps from orbital Lunar images. Our method uses an optimal Bayesian correlator to refine the stereo disparity map and generate a set of ac...
